Inspection planned for sub-projects of North-South Expressway’s eastern section

HÀ NỘI — Sub-projects within the North-South Expressway’s eastern section are expected to undergo inspection, according to a recent decision approved by the transport minister.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) will establish three inspection teams with members from the MoT, the Transport Construction Investment Management Authority and relevant departments, to conduct a review of the  二0 二 一- 二 五 implementation of sub-projects within the eastern section of the North-South Expressway.

The scope of evaluation includes land clearance; overall and specific construction schedule; construction design and implementation; human resources and equipment mobilisation by implementing and supervising contractors; building material supply; progress on project review, payment and disbursement as well as related procedures; operational structure and responsibility of the head investor and the project management board.

The inspection and report are to be completed in June. Bottlenecks and shortcomings will be reported to the MoT’s leaders for prompt measures.

The MoT chief inspector has been assigned to direct and supervise inspection teams in accordance with their responsibilities, missions and functions.

The construction project of the North-South Expressway’s eastern section for the  二0 二 一- 二 五 period was approved by the National Assembly in January  二0 二 二.

The route is planned to have four lanes with a total length of  七 二 九 kilometres.

It is divided into  一 二 sub-projects which are the sections of Hà Tĩnh-Quảng Trị ( 二 六 七 km), Quảng Ngãi-Nha Trang ( 三 五 三 km) and Cần Thơ-Cà Mau ( 一0 九 km).

The total preliminary investment for the project is VNĐ 一 四 七 trillion (US$ 六. 二 billion), with the entire route from Lạng Sơn to Cà Mau scheduled for completion in  二0 二 五. — VNS
